Prairie Lakes Wellness Center Superintendent Theresa Hillis Announces Retirement Effective December

The City of Watertown would like to share that Prairie Lakes Wellness Center Superintendent Theresa Hillis has announced her retirement, effective December 5, 2025.

Theresa first joined the City team in 2022 and has dedicated over three years to strengthening services at the Wellness Center. During her leadership, membership grew steadily—from 2,829 in August 2022 to 3,790 in August 2025—peaking seasonally at more than 4,000 members earlier this year. She also developed new staff training programs, established CPR and First Aid training opportunities, and helped guide improvements in marketing, budgeting, and customer service.

In her words, Theresa’s goal was to “take an already excellent facility and put into place processes and procedures to take it to the next level.”

By announcing her retirement now, she has given the City valuable time to begin the process of hiring her replacement and ensuring a smooth transition for staff and members. The City thanks Theresa for her years of service and wishes her the best in her retirement in December. Please join us in thanking Theresa for her dedication and the difference she’s made at the Prairie Lakes Wellness Center.
