Community Gardens

About

Each year, the Watertown Parks and Recreation Department rents garden plots to Watertown residents. Plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis for new gardeners but may be reserved year-to-year by those returning from the previous year. In 2025, the cost of a plot is $40. The two community gardens are located at 1800 3rd Ave NW (East of Field) and 10th Ave and 7th St. NE.

Each garden plot measures approximately 20’ x 30’ (600 square feet). The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department will prepare the seed beds, making them ready for planting around May 10, weather permitting. Parking is available in the adjacent parking lot. The gardens must be cleaned off by the second Saturday in October.

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department will be free of any and all liability for acts of vandalism, destructive storms, insect infestations, etc.

Reservations

The previous year's gardeners receive a letter in March giving them until April to reserve their plot for the next growing season. Any garden not reserved is made available to the general public for reservation. While all plots are currently full, you can join the waiting list for future growing seasons.
